KEN MASON TITLES

FRESCO
A similar process to the traditional European Fresco. Our Fresco differs in that it is made with a fired ceramic material with all the visual attributes of the original as well as the added ability to resist acids and bleach. The Fresco technique creates a dry, soft appearance either with a rough or smooth texture. Usually distressed by hand and sealed at our studio. The process can be applied to any of our tiles or molding. The system can be produced in a myriad of colors from the very subtle to the vibrant. A thin coat of transparent glaze, either glossy or satin, can be applied to the surface if desired.

Amalfi Wash (PH) offers a smoother fresco like finish with many of the same characteristics as our Fresco finish.

FIELD TILE

- A classic tile shape, slightly cushioned edges, relatively flat. Available in 1 1/2", 2", 3", 4", 6" and 8" squares, triangles, rectangles and liners. White or Red clay.
- Slightly raised-hand fettled edges delivering a more dramatic glaze puddling along the perimeter. Available in the same sizes and shapes as the aforementioned California Smooth. White or Red clay.
- Relatively flat with textured surface visible through most glazes. Eased edge. Available in 2", 4", 5" and 6" squares with liners and triangles. White or Red clay.
- Relatively flat with lightly eased edges in 2", 3", 4", 6" and 8" squares, triangles, rectangles and liners.
- 4" and 6" tile with raised frame surround. This material has soft crevices built into the bisque (this is an intentional design style) and therefore may not be appropriate for all areas.
- Same as Normandie but without the frame surround. Eased edges.
- A more rustic, elegant clay body 3 & 6" square and 3X6 brick-primarily in red clay with a European aesthetic.
- Most of our finished tiles can be cut into 3/4" mosaic. Netted or not.
METAL
Brass, Bronze, Nickel, Copper, Stainless and white metal...Only your imagination limits the possibilities.
We can detail in white metal (Silver/Platinum) or produce all our material in either solid or clad metal finishes. The solid metals can be used commercially or residentially. The weight can be a problem on larger pieces, hence the metal clad technique.

The down side to metal clad is it is not appropriate for water or heavy use areas. Our metals can be antiqued in a variety of colors. These pieces are sealed at our studio to slow oxidation. Mix the metal pieces with any of our other finishes or as an insert with floor tile of any material...ceramic, stone or wood

HAND PAINTED TILES

We have established designs and pictorials. We hand paint
all our decos and can paint on any of our materials with fired on ceramic paint. We will custom paint a design or pictorial for your project.

Colors will appear slightly different depending on the finish you choose and the background we paint on...gloss, satin crackle or not, on red or white clay, or on fresco.

Our paintings can be crisp and clean as well as distressed and or antiqued depending on your project.

Any of our pieces can be for you!

RAKU
An ancient Korean/Japanese process used primarily for pottery. Fire, smoke and ash create these incredibly exciting colors, mostly with metallic highlights. We at Ken Mason Tile have adapted this age-old technique to fit our tile, no larger than 4" by 4" or 3" by 6", and most of our A and B moldings.

We offer 6 colors all with metallic highlights. Raku is a very mottled decorative finish and works beautifully with our other finishes, stone or wood. All Raku material is sealed at our studio to maintain the metallic characteristics. This material is not appropriate for water areas or heavy use surfaces.

RELIEF MOLDINGS

KMT manufactures one of the largest collections of hand crafted relief moldings available. Our portfolio of designs spans the continents. We have themes that run the gamut from clean, straight metal pieces to esoteric subjects. These moldings vary from 4 to 14 inches.

We determine the length of a molding by the subject matter we are dealing with. You can't always shorten or lengthen a piece of art to fit a particular module. Most of our molding pieces can be finished with any of our techniques. There are some restrictions; we will notify you immediately if there is a limitation concerning one of your projects.

The PH series has a small group of moldings designed to fit perfectly with this rustic yet elegant collection.

Customized in progress.

CONCEPT PANELS
At KMT we use Concept Panels as a means of demonstrating a few of the possible ways our material can be used. Imagine the Concept Panels as pieces of a wall, cut out and hung. A wainscot, a fireplace, a backsplash, the hood of a stove, etc. Don't limit yourself to our combinations. Our material lends itself to an infinite number of possibilities in every conceivable style.

On the following pages we will display a cross section of these panels. The colors we used on the panels may not appear or print accurately. Keep that in mind.
